BEDFORD ANGLING CLUB

HOME

Bedford Angling Club is a river based angling club with six waters on the Great Ouse in and around Bedford.  As a river only club the statutory restriction relating to the close season (i.e. no fishing in the period 15 March to 15 June inclusive) applies to all its waters.

The Great Ouse down to Bedford is generally classified by the Environment Agency as a Class “A” fishery. On the whole roach are predominate species numerically followed, in terms of biomass, by chub and then barbel.

Membership, subject to the rules of the Club, is open to all but is restricted in numbers to ensure that a choice of swims is always available; currently membership is available. Day tickets are also available.  Membership and day tickets are not available on the bank and must be purchased in advance either directly from the Secretary (see ‘Contact Us’) or from local tackle dealers (see ‘Membership’). The Club also lets out its waters to other clubs and associations providing application is made to the Secretary prior to May.

The Club’s waters contain a variety of species (several of which reach good size).  Being river only the Club is likely to appeal to the more traditional angler be it pleasure, specialist or specimen and to those who simply enjoy peaceful angling.

As the Club’s waters are all natural then access can be a problem. Those with limited mobility are suggested to view the Biddenham - Church Farm and  Bedford - Fenlake waters which probably have the easiest access.
